Stanley R. Cwynar, CPA

Managing Member, Founder

Stan Cwynar is the managing member and founder of Cwynar & Company, CPAs, PLLC, which he established in 1989. With over 25 years of experience, Stan specializes in governmental, not-for-profit, and financial auditing, bringing deep expertise to a wide range of industries.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a dual major in Accounting and Economics from Siena College. A licensed CPA since 1986, Stan is an active member of:

  • American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
  • New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA)
  • Founding Member, Advisory Board for the School District Internal Auditors Alliance (SDIAA)

Throughout his career, Stan has served in various roles, including:

Mark Whittaker, CPA

With over 20 years of experience in audit, accounting, and tax, Mark Whittaker has worked with both U.S. and Canadian public and private companies, as well as individuals. His top priority is always delivering exceptional client service and providing solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Mark has spent more than a decade at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP and has also gained valuable experience with other major U.S. CPA firms, both in the U.S. and Canada. Through this extensive experience, he has developed deep expertise in:

  • Technical Accounting

John Akinyemi, CPA

With over 10 years of experience in auditing, accounting, and tax, John Akinyemi brings a wealth of knowledge to the team. For the past two years, he has worked at Deloitte & Touche LLP, specializing in accounting and internal controls for federal, state, and local governments. Prior to this, John gained valuable experience as an auditor with the New York City Comptroller’s Office.

John’s primary focus is to expand our firm’s tax practice while providing leadership in our governmental audit and assurance services. He is dedicated to helping clients navigate complex financial issues and ensuring they receive the highest level of service.

Gloria B. Gibbon, CIA, CISA, CGEIT, CFSA

Senior Auditor and Consultant

With over 30 years of experience in internal auditing and financial services, Gloria B. Gibbon brings a wealth of expertise to our firm. She holds a B.S. in Business/Finance from Penn State and a Master’s in Technology Management from UMUC.

Gloria is certified in several key areas:

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
  • Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA)

She is a recognized leader in her field, having served on the boards of both the Central New York Chapters of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ISACA.

Gloria’s experience spans both the role of auditor and auditee, giving her a deep understanding of the importance of clear, effective communication. She has advanced to Distinguished Toastmaster in the local Toastmasters’ club, where she has also served in multiple leadership positions.

Her broad knowledge of auditing, risk management, and governance, combined with her leadership in communication, makes Gloria an invaluable asset to our team.
